Introduction

This guide will provide Installation instruction for installing a Xirgo Xt63xx with the Volvo Diagnostic Backbone Harness for Volvo trucks 2017/18 and older.

  1. Record serial number The serial number will be needed to link the unit to the vehicle and to verify operation. It is best to record before starting installation.

    • The diagnostic adapter harness will plug in here

    • The I/O harness will plug in here

  2. GPS LED OFF = Searching for satellites
    • GPS LED OFF = Searching for satellites

    • GPS Flashing = Satellite count +1

    • Com LED OFF = No power to device

    • Com LED Flashing = Ignition OFF

    • Com LED Flashing Fast = Searching for cellular; Ignition ON

    • Com LED Solid = Cellular lock; Ignition ON

    • BT LED OFF = Bluetooth not connected

    • BT LED Flashing = Bluetooth connected

  3. Universal back bone diagnostic harness Fuse

    • May need to be installed into vehicle fuse box

    • 2018+ Power adapter

    • Used for new model installations

    • Legacy power adapter

    • Used for pre 2018 installations

    • Xirgo Xt63xx hardware adapter

  6. Remove tray Remove screws

    • Remove panel to expose power distribution junction box

    • B1-1, B1-2, or B1-3 can be used

    • Included fuse may need to be installed. The fuse locations are identified on the label

  8. Locate terminating resistor Remove terminating resistor

    • Install the terminating resistor into the universal backbone diagnostic harness provided

    • This must be installed for the vehicle to operate correctly!

  9. Plug the remaining connector from  the universal backbone diagnostic harness into where the terminating resistor was removed
    • Plug the remaining connector from the universal backbone diagnostic harness into where the terminating resistor was removed

  10. Plug the legacy power adapter into the universal backbone diagnostic harness
    • Plug the legacy power adapter into the universal backbone diagnostic harness

    • 3 pin at end of cable

    • Power adapter is white with a red retainer

  11. Check for +12V at B1-1, B1-2, or B1-3 +12V Power terminal is on the windshield side
    • Check for +12V at B1-1, B1-2, or B1-3

    • +12V Power terminal is on the windshield side

    • Ground terminal is on the cab side

    • If there is no power found, a fuse need to be installed. Read label on back of the cover panel for details. [invalid guide link]

    • Once power is verified, plug Into B1-1, B1-2, or B1-3

  12. Using the 24 pin power harness, locate and connect an Ignition source.  The device will be supplied Battery and Ground through the diagnostic connector & harness.
    • Using the 24 pin power harness, locate and connect an Ignition source. The device will be supplied Battery and Ground through the diagnostic connector & harness.

    • Ignition can be found at the fuse box

    • Wire colors:

    • Red = Battery

    • Not used, Do Not Connect. Insulate wire and secure excess wire.

    • White = Ignition

    • Black = Ground

    • Not used, Do Not Connect. Insulate wire and secure excess wire.

  13. Input 1=Pin 6; (+) Positive input Input 2=Pin 7; (-) Negative input
    • Input 1=Pin 6; (+) Positive input

    • Input 2=Pin 7; (-) Negative input

    • Garmin

    • Panic/Privacy

    • Driver ID Buzzer

    • Driver ID Reader

  14. Plug the 24 pin harness into the device

  16. Plug in the Hardware  Diagnostic Harness Adapter
    • Plug in the Hardware Diagnostic Harness Adapter

  17. Find a location for device to be installed.
    • Find a location for device to be installed.

    • Unit needs to be mechanically secured with Zip-tie, Velcro, etc...

    • Device should be installed (sticker side up) with a clear line of site out of the vehicle.

    • Device will work through glass, plastic, and most composites.

    • Do Not place directly under metal

    • Behind this switch panel is often a good place for securing the device.
