Introduction

This guide will provide Installation instruction for installing the RP1226 Diagnostic Harness for 2019+ Paccar trucks.

  1. RP1226 diagnostic harness Hardware specific  adapter

  2. The RP1226 connector looks like this

    • It is a 2 row connector with 7 locations per row (14 total)

    • Use this pin out as needed for troubleshooting or identification

  3. Remove panel in the kick panel/firewall area to expose power distribution junction box

    • Here you should find the Rp1226 connector

    • Examples

    • This example is from a Peterbilt, but the location still applies to a Kenworth

    • Often secured high behind the steering column in pedal area.

  4. Using the 24 pin power harness, locate and connect an Ignition source.  The device will be supplied Battery and Ground through the diagnostic connector & harness.
    • Using the 24 pin power harness, locate and connect an Ignition source. The device will be supplied Battery and Ground through the diagnostic connector & harness.

    • White = Ignition

    • Ignition can be found at the blunt cut white wire coming from the Rp1226 connector and used as needed.

    • This connection is only required for powered accessories like Panic button or External buzzer and is otherwise not required for Fleet installations.

    • Fuse holder must be added if used.

  5. Find a location for device to be installed.
    • Find a location for device to be installed.

    • Unit needs to be mechanically secured with Zip-tie, Velcro, etc...

    • Device should be installed with a clear line of site out of the vehicle.

    • Device will work through glass, plastic, and most composites.

    • Do Not place directly under metal

  6. Plug the RP1226 diagnostic harness  into the provided hardware adapter cable Plug the RP1226 diagnostic harness  into the provided hardware adapter cable
    • Plug the RP1226 diagnostic harness into the provided hardware adapter cable

  7. Plug the hardware  diagnostic harness adapter into the device
    • Plug the hardware diagnostic harness adapter into the device

    • Verify operation
