In this video, we'll discuss a simple way to connect a Y-cable when completing an installation to a vehicle's OBD-II port.

  • Y-cables are not unique or specific to OBD-II connectors. They're used in any application where a connection to a port is required but access to the port must remain available.
  • The OBD-II Y-cable has three OBD-type moulded connectors - one male and two female.
  • The simplest way to complete the installation is to remove the existing OBD-II connector from the vehicle fascia and connect it to the male connector of the Y-cable.
  • Now connect the tracking unit to one of the female connectors, and plug the other female connector back into the port in the fascia.
