In this guide:

Step 1: Gather your tools

You might need some of the following tools:

  • Scraper

  • Adhesive remover (optional)

  • Flashlight

  • Additional zip ties

Step 2: Get your vehicle ready

Make sure that:

  • The vehicle's ignition is turned off.

  • The vehicle’s windshield temperature is not too hot or cold, recommended between 50°F to 80°F (10-26°C). To regulate the temperature, park indoors, park in the shade or use your vehicle’s air conditioning system.

Step 3: Unplug the power cable

  1. Use the barrel key to unlock the security camera's cover.

  2. Unplug the cable from the camera.

Step 4: Detach the camera from the windshield

  1. Gently slide a scraper between the camera's sticky pad and the windshield.

  2. Remove any of the sticky pad's residue that is left on the windshield. To do this, you can:

    • Rub the residue to cause friction and create heat. The residue will peel off.

    • Use an adhesive remover along with a scraper or other suitable tools.

Step 5: Disconnect from the power source

  1. Follow the cable from the camera into the headliner.

  2. Slowly pull on the cable to remove it from the headliner.

  3. Remove the A-pillar cover to access the cables. Consult the vehicle manufacturer's user manual first.

  4. Follow the cable route down the A-pillar to the power source.

  5. Remove any panels or zip ties that secure the cabling.

    • For installations that use an OBD-II connector, find the OBD-II port and unplug the cable.

    • For installations that use a 3-wire connector, disconnect the black, red, and white wires.

    Caution

Be careful when working with electrical wires. The constant power wire is still live when the vehicle is off. When the constant power wire is exposed, ensure it does not touch any metal items.

  6. Insulate exposed wires with electrical tape and secure in place with a zip tie.

  7. Replace the A-pillar cover and any other panels.
