Video: How to test a CalAmp LMU-XXX installation

This video covers GPS status, GPRS connectivity and ignition status testing, and will show you how to commission your tracker once it's installed.
There are two LEDs.
- The green one indicates the GPS status. It will light up any time the unit is awake and can see at least five satellites, which is the minimum number required for 3D tracking.
- Test the GPS status with the ignition switched on, to be sure the unit is awake.
- If the tracker can't see enough satellites to allow it to acquire a position, the LED will be off. If it hasn't come on within 2 minutes, move the vehicle to a position where it has a clear view of the sky.
- Once the GPS has found enough satellites, the LED will give one long flash, a short pause, and then a flash sequence to indicate the number of satellites communicating with the tracker. This sequence will repeat in a loop, but will adjust to display the relevant number of satellites each time.
- The orange LED can be used to determine connectivity and ignition status.
- If the LED is flashing slowly at about one pulse per second, this means the unit is awake, but the ignition is off.
- If the LED is off, the unit is asleep.
- To test if the ignition connection is working correctly, switch on the ignition and watch the orange LED. It will speed up to two pulses per second or will be on constantly. If it's flashing rapidly, this means it's on, but it can't connect to the Verizon Connect servers.
- If the connection is correct and you switch the ignition on and off, you'll notice the orange LED flashes at a different speed.
- If the LED is on constantly, the unit is communicating with the server.
So, when commissioning an installation, switch on the ignition and look for a solid orange LED and a flashing green one. That indicates the installation is successful because there's communication with the server, and the unit can see enough satellites.
