Removal guide: Driver-facing camera (CP2/model 2)
This guide explains how to remove a driver-facing camera (for CP2/model 2 camera) from a vehicle.
In this guide
You might need some of the following tools:
-
Scraper
-
Adhesive remover (optional)
-
Flashlight
-
Additional zip ties
Make sure that:
-
The vehicle's ignition is turned off.
-
The vehicle’s windshield temperature is not too hot or cold, recommended between 50°F to 80°F (10-26°C). To regulate the temperature, park indoors, park in the shade or use your vehicle’s air conditioning system.
-
Follow the cable from the driver-facing camera into the headliner.
-
Slowly pull on the cable to remove it from the headliner.
-
If the connector is not behind the headliner, remove the A-pillar cover. This may be as simple as removing the screw or releasing the clip that holds the A-pillar in place. However, always consult the vehicle manual first.
-
Follow the cable route down the A-pillar to the DC power adapter.
-
Remove any panels or zip ties that secure the cabling.
Caution
Do not undo the clips that hold the airbag in place, to avoid setting off the airbag.
-
Gently slide a scraper between the camera's sticky pad and the windshield.
-
Remove any of the sticky pad's residue that is left on the windshield. To do this, you can:
-
Rub the residue to cause friction and create heat. The residue will peel off.
-
Use an adhesive remover along with a scraper or other suitable tools.
-
