Overview: Replace or swap a vehicle tracker

This article gives an overview of the process to replace or swap a vehicle tracker.

Note: If you are installing a Vehicle Data Device, we recommend that you use the Spotlight app to install and set up the vehicle tracker. Learn more about replacing an existing tracker with a vehicle tracker using the Spotlight app.

Step 1: Remove old vehicle tracker

Remove your old vehicle tracker from the vehicle and return it to Verizon Connect.

Step 2: Install new vehicle tracker

Install the new vehicle tracker into the vehicle.

Step 3: Complete swap in Reveal

In Reveal, from the Vehicle List, you can complete the swap and merge the vehicle data from your old device to the new device. Then you will have one continuous history for the vehicle.

You need the following information to complete the swap:

  • The name of the vehicle as it appears in Reveal
  • The serial number (IMEI or ESN) of the new device

Step 4 Verify installation in Reveal

Log in to Reveal and search for the serial number (IMEI or ESN) to see if the tracker is reporting.
